A Paschal Letter

We must repudiate the logic of war …”

"We must repudiate the logic of war and power, based a logic of selfishness and death," said Gregorios III LahamMelkite Greek Catholic Church Patriarch of Antioch and All the East. Of Alexandria and of Jerusalem in his Paschal Letter for 2014.

In his letter, the Patriarch also announced a path to accomplish this in the development of a Syrian think-tank of committed Christian intellectuals. The purpose of this gathering is to "formulate principles, methods, and programmes based on our national values and the teachings of the Gospel. With a fuller common and practical understanding of the Gospels and Second Vatican Council, members of the forum will be more properly fitted to mentally and spiritually challenge the problems of Syrian society rooted in destructive secularist ideas .

In addition to announcing the forum he made a plea to the whole world on behalf of the afflicted as part his message recognizing humanity's RESURRECTION Read the full message

Gregorious III also quoted the good, true and beautiful confessional poem by the late Patriarch Athenagoras of Constantinople.

I have waged this war against myself for many years
. . . now I am disarmed.
I am no longer frightened of anything
because love banishes fear.
I am disarmed of the need to be right
and to justify myself by disqualifying others.
. . . I just want to welcome and to share. . . .
What is good, true and real is always for me the best.
That is why I have no fear.

When we are disarmed and dispossessed of self
If we open our hearts to the God-Man
who makes all things new
then He takes away past hurts
and reveals a new time
where everything is possible.

~Patriarch Athenagoras

Why post this in a Christian Scientist blog?

In Christian unity, I have been praying while following the news of violence in our world today and have been visiting religious worship services of those who have fled violence to establish a new life in the area. It has been an extra-ordinary experience of not understanding a word while we have prayed together that the peace Easter promises will soon be manifest for all.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote this on page 340 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:
One infinite Godgood, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, “Love thy neighbor as thyself;” annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, — whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.

A few days ago, a man and I entered the Church where his congregation holds services while they work to demonstrate their own edifice. It is a beautiful example of Christians of different faith traditions loving each other. When I asked him where he was born, the Iraqi-born man bowed and shook his head thinking of his escape through Lebanon on his way here. Then he looked at me with a bursting joy and said, “I'm an American citizen!”

With a grateful heart, I welcomed him. Then we entered and went our separate ways wearing smiles as Holy Week began.

The Great Lent has ended, it is Holy Saturday. This evening, I will join with another congregation for Easter Vigil to watch for the morning of hope and joy celebrating Christ Jesus' Resurrection that has freed us all from idolatrous fear of death.

Alleluia! He is risen!
He is risen in deed!

Happy Easter to you all,

+Carolyn St.Charles

Trials are proofs of God;s care. … Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. ~MBEddy

Unless the story our life tells is God's story, our life tells no story.

Without hope we have no strength to arise from our bed to do what is ours to do.

The journey of Jesus to Jerusalem & the cross began on an unbroken colt ridden through crowds of material expectations

The humility of Jesus cannot be matched or surpassed. What could he gain for himself? Agape without price for us.

Weapons of this world flash as they are wielded against brothers. Forsaking God, men seek to kill His image

Sparing nothing, Jesus continues onward to prove the power of immortal Love in defeating men's most feared foe, death.

Our world in turmoil pictures a battle that is not ours, a battle not of matter but of powers and principalities.

As we commemorate the journey of Jesus, we plant the seeds of his fruitage that must emerge gently into a new day.

For Jesus' willing acceptance of the cross, the only proof we could understand, we owe him endless homage.

Every time you forgive you disappoint the devil. ~Bible Time

When forgiving seems most difficult, I am reminded:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ~ Phil4v13

Over the centuries we think to the work of Christ Jesus that saved us though we do not comprehend his love for us.

Every individual reflection of Soul needs its rightful nutriment. It doesn't diet. Feed it daily with gratitude.

There is a new sense pf Spirit blowing across the fact of the earth.

As the Triduum nears let us, Christians and struggling hearts everywhere, set our sails to catch its healing wind that will carry us to Easter.

a well-versed blog

You are invited to follow my very short poetry blog -- a mix of word games and poetry through the eyes of Science.

the art of socializing word-seeds

The idea of morphemes resonated with me because each of us are like a morpheme, the smallest unit of language that can convey meaning. We are unique, individual units of meaning that can interact to create a larger idea - a more God idea. Like brother birds, word-seeds flock together. So now you know a bit of the backstory.

Most posts are from @mrphms posts. I chose "mrphms" because it is shorter.

Blogging posts from Twitter requires more time than it takes to compose. So do not be surprised if the blog is not as current as the tweets. In any case, I hope you will find a smile or two.

Please leave a comment to make my heart happy.
